Fundraising
2009/10
For 2009/10, the Chairwoman has chosen to support the Salix Dementia Trust.
The Salix Dementia Trust is a recognised Scottish Charity (SC32100) and a company limited by guarantee. Dayspring Dementia Training is its sister organisation which specialises in dementia training.
Although both organisations are based in Milnathort, Scotland, Salix also works in Africa and Dayspring offers distance learning internationally. Dayspring Dementia Training and The Salix Dementia Trust work, exclusively, with people with dementia and their caregivers - both family and professional - and, whilst The Salix Dementia Trust operates a number of innovative projects and Dayspring Dementia Training teaches both in-house training courses in Scotland and distance learning on an international basis, both hold the belief that all people have the right to a rich and full life no matter what their age, sex, colour, creed, disability or any other perceived difference.

2008/09
In 2008/9 we supported PKAVS Young Carers and raised over £1000.
Perth and Kinross Young Carers forms part of the Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Services (PKAVS) and is a registered Scottish charity (SC 005561)
They support young carers from the age of 5 to 18. Young carers are basically children who have caring responsibilities within the home for a parent, sibling or other family member. The illness or condition of the cared for can be very varied, including mental health, physical disability, drug and alcohol abuse and sensory impairment.
Many young carers spend on average over 20 hours a week caring for someone and some spend over 50 hours a week. As you can imagine this tends to remove them from the normal process of being a child. When do they go out and play? They don’t invite friends home because of their caring role. They may want to keep this a secret.
In many ways children are taking on a caring role that most adults would refuse to do and as a result are losing out on their right to be a child. PKAVS Young Carers help and support young carers to continue with their role as carers in an appropriate way and access all the opportunities that their peers have in order to be a child.
The Young Carers Project provides:
One-one support
Family support
Day activities
Week long residentials full of activities
School support
Advocacy
Funding for individuals, groups and families
Weekly and fortnightly group evenings
A voice for young carers
Access to other service providers
